March of the Sons of Confederate Veterans by James F. Chumbley
|
Sons of Dixie, duty
calls us. |
|
(chorus) So onward for the
Southland's glory |
|
When the blows
around were falling, |
|
(chorus) So onward for the
Southland's glory |
|
Our fathers bled
and died for honor: |
|
(chorus) So onward for the
Southland's glory |
|
Then stand when
those around are quailing. |
|
(chorus) So onward for the
Southland's glory |
Sing to the Tune "Rhyfelgyrch Gwyr Harlech" (March of the Men of Harlech), Battle Anthem Of Wales, Ancestral Home of William E. George, of Texas, The Aranger's Confederate Ancestor Lyrics and Arrangement (c) 1997 by James F. Chumbley The Stainless Banner Camp, No. 1440 Sons of Confederate Veterans
This grand anthem commemorates the Welsh defense of Harlech Castle in 1468, and is particularly appropriate to our efforts in defense of our Confederate symbols, especially our flags. Dafydd ap Jevan, the Welsh commander at Harlech, said, "I held a castle in France 'til all the old women in Wales heard of it, and all the old women in France shall hear how I defend this one."
